Irk is the home planet of the Irkens, a race
bent on conquering and enslaving the Universe. Little is known about the
actual planet Irk itself. Young Irkens, called Smeets, are genetically engineered in
underground birthing facilities on Irk. They don't see the
surface of Irk for years. Instead they get their schooling
bellow the surface. The only time the surface has been shown was in The
Nightmare Begins, when Zim went on a rampage on Irk in a Frontline
BattleMech during Operation Impending Doom I.
Irken social status is designated by height.
Therefore, the ruler of Irk is the tallest Irken alive. Red and Purple
happen to be the same height, so they rule together. Prior to them,
Tallest Spork ruled before being accidentally killed by Zim, and before
that was Tallest Miyuki- also killed by Zim. There are
also Irken Control Brains that are the mass consciousness of all Irken
ancestors, and keepers of knowledge. They are specially bred as
guardians and decision makers. Through Operation Impending Doom
II, the Irken Empire's grip on the galaxies increases.
