Our solar system in the Milky Way Galaxy contains 9 planets, including Earth. Although most of the planets aren't featured in the show, a few have been. On a routine check of the surrounding planets with space probes, Zim found structures on Mars that indicated there was once intelligent life there. Zim reasoned that whatever killed them off could help him conquer Earth, so he left for Mars. There he found that the Marzoids had worked themselves into extinction converting Mars into a flyable space cruiser, using technology tested and proven to work on Mercury. Dib and Zim had a space battle with these giant ships, flying all over the place including through Saturn's rings. In the end, Zim abandoned Mars in the Asteroid Belt and it ended up on a collision course with the Irken Armada.
